AutoProv vs carVertical
These products were built for different problems. carVertical answers “what happened to this car before it reached the UK”. AutoProv answers “is this UK vehicle safe to buy, what is it worth, and what paperwork do I owe the customer”.
The short answer
Choose carVertical if you buy imported stock and need history from the vehicle’s original market. That is a real capability AutoProv does not offer, and no amount of UK data substitutes for it.
Choose AutoProv if you are a UK dealer working with UK-registered stock. Outstanding finance, stolen and salvage markers, write-off category and mileage anomalies all come from UK-licensed sources, alongside valuation and the CRA 2015 and CCR 2013 tooling.

Frequently asked questions
Is carVertical better than AutoProv?
For a specific job, yes. If you are buying imported vehicles and need history from before the car arrived in the UK, carVertical covers cross-border VIN records that AutoProv does not. For UK-registered stock bought and sold by a UK dealer, AutoProv covers the UK-licensed data that matters, adds valuation and MOT history in the same report, and includes the compliance tooling UK consumer law requires.
Does AutoProv check imported vehicles?
AutoProv checks any UK-registered vehicle, including one that was previously imported, and will show its UK record from registration onward. What it does not provide is the vehicle history from its original market before UK registration. If that gap matters for the stock you buy, a dedicated import history product is the right tool.
Which is better for a UK dealer buying at auction?
AutoProv, in most cases. Auction buying turns on outstanding finance, write-off category, mileage anomalies and a realistic trade value, all of which are UK-licensed data delivered in one report. The compliance tooling then covers the paperwork once the vehicle is retailed, which is where UK dealers carry the actual legal exposure.
Can I use both?
Yes, and for import-heavy stock that is a reasonable setup: AutoProv for the UK provenance, valuation and compliance workflow, carVertical for pre-import history on specific vehicles where the origin market matters.
